Hours after sharing a cryptic message on Twitter that sparked speculation about his impending entry into politics, former Team India cricket captain and current BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly put the rumors to rest, saying that the highly anticipated big announcement he had alluded to in the evening related to the launch of a global educational app.
Speaking to reporters in the evening, he revealed he was planning to launch an educational app and dispelled rumors about his resignation as BCCI chairman.
When a reporter asked “can we call this a Maharaj googly, as Sourav Ganguly is affectionately called”, the BCCI chairman said he was shocked after hearing the speculation. “They pick up such small things and make them bigger. It was just a simple tweet, no resignation nothing,” he said.

BCCI chairman and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce he was entering a “new chapter” in his life. He said the year 2022 marks 30 years of his life in cricket and thanked everyone for the support and love he has received.
“2022 marks the 30th year since my journey with cricket started in 1992. Since then, cricket has given me so much. More importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank everyone who has been part of the journey, supporting me and helping me get to where I am today,” Ganguly wrote on Twitter.
In a post, he said that he is planning to start something new and asked for everyone’s support for the same.
The post sparked speculation on social media where many questioned whether he was joining mainstream politics in India. Some media had even suggested that he had resigned as head of BCCI, but BCCI secretary Jay Shah refuse rumors.
